Which country consumes a higher amount of rice: China or Malaysia?

China consumes a significantly larger amount of rice compared to Malaysia. As the most populous country globally, China's consumption of rice is immense. Rice is a staple food in Chinese cuisine and is deeply ingrained in their culinary traditions, making it a fundamental part of their daily diet. The sheer size of China's population, exceeding over a billion people, contributes substantially to its high rice consumption rates.

On the other hand, while Malaysia also has rice as a staple in its cuisine, its consumption pales in comparison to China due to its much smaller population. Malaysia's diverse culinary landscape includes rice as a central component in various dishes, but its consumption rates are lower compared to countries with larger populations like China. Despite the significance of rice in Malaysian cuisine, the quantity consumed per capita remains lower than that of China due to Malaysia's smaller population size.
